A lot of fans are expression their anger about Mike Shinoda’s recent comments about Linkin Park continuing without Chester Bennington. Many believe Chester was Linkin Park and it should retire. Being the only logical music news website on the internet…I wanted to give my honest thoughts about this because people wanted to hear what I had to say.
The most important thing that people need to understand is that it wasn’t the Chester Bennington show. It was a band called Linkin Park. I understand why people are upset about this but at the end of the day it is the band’s decision to decide whether they want to carry on without their lead singer or not. It is still their band and their life. It’s not fair for them to have to give up something they love or start a new band altogether. Simply changing their name just to start fresh is not fair to them. Linkin Park is an already established name. Their marketing would fall down to hell if they changed their name. That’s a fact. It’s a business and businesses need to continue even if someone passes away. Nobody was closer to Chester than his Linkin Park brothers and I really don’t think they would continue on without him if they thought it was wrong. We should respect their decision.
A lot of people said Linkin park would fail when they changed from hard rock to a more soft pop rock yet they’ve grown even bigger than before. I have no doubt that they will continue to prove people wrong after all the people who say Linkin Park will fail without Chester. I really don’t think they will fail. Real fans of Linkin Park will stick by them. Otherwise, they were never fans of that band if they’re gonna leave just because the lead singer is not around anymore. Once again, it was never the Chester show. (I remember Hayley Williams from Paramore saying that to a camera man cause he kept filming her and not the band and she said it wasn’t the Hayley show. That made me laugh out loud)
