Taylor Swift Reputation Album Review

It’s been awhile since I’ve seen an album as talked about as Reputation. I’ve never really been a fan of Taylor Swift’s older music but even I love this album! It has already sold millions of copies and as soon Taylor posted some songs to her Youtube it had thousands of young musicians making covers instantly. My favorite so far is Terabrite’s 7 minute mashup video of every song on Taylor’s Album. Check that out here right now!¬†https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMETruIUr3s

What makes this album stand out so much is the catchy tunes. The lyrical creativity. The fact that you can just blast these songs and dance to them. It makes you want to get up and enjoy life. The best albums to me are ones that make you feel good at the end. I want to compare this to the debut album of Bridgit Mendler. Normally, I don’t like that type of music but Bridgit’s album had those songs that just made you feel good. it made you smile. It made you want to get up and sing. It was my favorite album for a long time. Right now Taylor is close to being at that level for me. Taylor has always been smart when it came to her music. She’s always two steps ahead of the game. She knows what people want and she knows what she wants. She has fun but also is very serious about her music. That is a hard combination to master for many musicians.

Breaking away from her country style and moving into a more pop genre was probably the best thing for her. Even her country songs sounded like she wanted to break out a pop tune at any moment. She isn’t shying too far away from who she’s always been. This allows her to keep her old fans while also gaining new fans. Reputation¬†sold 1.2M copies in the US during the first week. If that isn’t success I don’t know what is. Whenever I am able to pick 1 or 2 songs on an album that I like most that pretty much means the album didn’t do its job. I cannot pick just 1 or 2 songs on Reputation that I like the most because there are so many good ones. That is a success to me.
