Best Demi Lovato “Cool For The Summer” Rock Version Covers

I love Demi Lovato and if you aren’t a fan of her after her amazing nation anthem singing at the Mayweather-Mcgregor fight then I’ll put you in the walls of Jericho you stupid idiot! The other day I was listening to one of my favorite bands Halocene kill it with their recent cover of Taylor Swift’s new song Look What You Made Me Do and then I switched over to their cover of “Cool For The Summer” and a lightbulb went off in my head. I love their cover of Demi’s song so much that surely there’s gotta be some talented people out there who also gave a shot at singing it. First, watch Halocene’s cover…

HALOCENE COVER: I’ve always said that you don’t need to kill your voice screaming to be a rock band. You just need to go harder on the instruments and the vocals will sound heavier by default. Addie (lead singer of Halocene) can really hit those high notes. Which is the best I’ve seen so far compared to every other cover. Her range is amazing and I’ve always admired that about her. Her voice was on par with the instruments and she sang no differently than Demi sang. It sounded heavier because the intruments complimented her vocals. Brad (guitarist) also shows off his metal-inspired skills in this cover which makes it vastly different from the other covers I’ve seen. I’ve always said Halocene is one of the most underrated bands in the scene and I still believe that. They work hard, they’re super talented. Give them a listen right now!

This next band is called TeraBrite. Give it a listen and I’ll give you my thoughts after…

TERABRITE COVER: The song was well done. I enjoyed it. Sabrina has an amazing voice. The band is good and I take nothing away from their talents but I did feel like things could have been better. She doesn’t seem to have the high note range (at least in this song) that Halocene had in their cover. To be honest, the instrumentals felt bland in this cover. It felt more like they were afraid to take risks out of fear of messing up the cover or making people unhappy so they decided to take a safer route. Halocene wasn’t afraid to take risks in their cover. They made it their own. I wish TeraBrite would have taken more risks. I like the fact that you can see how much they enjoyed making this song/video. It’s easy to see when musicians are just having fun and I enjoyed that about TeraBrite’s cover.

Let’s take a look at the last cover from CrashCarBurn…

The lead singer did a good job although I wish he held a few of those notes for a little longer but my favorite part of this song is the fucking beast on drums. Jeeeeesus. Maybe he was having a bad day and took his anger out on those poor drums (rest in peace drums) but it worked for him so I hope he keeps destroying those drums.
