This is a story that I just found out today and it made me sad. I don’t know Adrenaline Mob very well or their music but I can say that being in the type of job that I’m in I get to meet and come across musicians all over the world and Adrenaline Mob seemed like some of the nicest guys in the business. So, on a personal level I wanted to send out my condolences to the band and David Zablidowsky who died in that bus accident
Adrenaline Mob had pulled over their RV to fix a flat tire on the highway when a tractor trailer veered off interstate 75 and hit the band’s RV. A total of nine people were in these vehicles. 6 were taken to the hospital and the only person to have died in that crash was David Z. When the tractor hit the RV that was when the RV caught on fire and David was pronounced dead. The police did not give away David’s identity but David’s brother confirmed it was indeed David who had died via a Facebook post.
It’s unclear at this time if this was due to drunk driving or the person driving the tractor had falling asleep at the wheel. All of that remains to be seen and all I can say is this is a sad and unfortunate incident. I heard from a source within the music industry that Adrenaline Mob has had bad luck with RV accidents and they’ve had 3 in the span of 5 years. I don’t know if that’s 100% truth so take that with a grain of salt but if that’s true then it really sucks to be in that position. If you drive all the time and you’re a good driver but bad luck has given you 3 car crashes in just a few years. What does that do to you? It’s gonna start affecting your everyday schedule. You’re gonna be scared to drive anywhere. None of these accidents were your fault but because of the idiots that are out there driving you’re gonna be scared to get back in the car when you almost died 3 times in 5 years. The fact that David has died because of this makes this so much harder of a pill to swallow. David was their brother. Their friend. Their family. Now he’s gone because of some idiot who wasn’t paying attention to what he was doing or was too drunk to know where he was.
My entire life I’ve been an advocate for a ton of different things. Gender equality, LGBT rights, mental health awareness. So, I feel like now is a good time to be an advocate on why drunk driving is wrong. I remember hearing a true story very recently about a man who decided to have 1 beer. Just one. And that’s all it took to impair his vision and mess up his brain. He ended up killing his girfriend. He said it felt like a bad dream. I’ve been straight edge for many years (not anymore though) because I grew up seeing first hand what alcohol can do. I watched my friend nearly jump off a roof trying to kill himself. Me and another friend had to drag him back inside. I’ve seen first hand drunk driving leaving people in critical condition. I’ve seen alcohol turn the nicest guys into girlfriend beating psychopaths. I know first hand what alcohol can do if you don’t know how what your limit is. Please, for your safety and for everyone that may come around you…be careful when drinking. Know your limits. Cab home. Don’t drive.
