Normally I write about other musicians and the projects they have coming up but I wanted to do something different today. I was thinking about all the times I’ve met musicians and they were super cool but there are other times musicians were incredibly rude for no reason. I understand that some musicians may be tired or they’ve had to deal with others that were rude to them and they start losing their temper. I’m more referring to the musicians who go out of their way to be rude for no reason. This list is based on my personal experiences.
DISCIPLE – I went to Disciple’s concert many years ago. They are my favorite band ever and have been for over 10 years. I paid for the vip meet and greet package which was only around $30. It included merchandise, 30 minutes of talking to the band, and front of the line at the concert. Kevin (the lead singer) hugged me and thanked me for coming to the show. I talked with him and the band for a half hour about my passion for writing and how much they inspired me. They were some of the nicest people ever.
FIREFLIGHT – I saw them at the same Disciple concert and they were a part of the meet and greet so I talked to them for about 10 minutes. I was honest and told them I never actually heard of them and I was there for Disciple but I said I listened to a few of their songs on youtube and I loved their sound and was looking forward to seeing them perform. They appreciated the honesty and gave me free merch and signed everything. I never even asked them to do that! The merch and signatures were only included for the band Disciple so the fact that Fireflight did that for me was so awesome.
HALOCENE – Halocene is an indie band that, in my opinion, are some of the hardest workers in the business. I’ve known them for a long time. I once asked them to create a theme song for my podcast which you can check out here and they are always doing covers of different artists and genres of music. They work hard to create custom songs for people. They are always having a good time and enjoying what they do.
MARMOZETS – they’re a new-ish rock band and this story actually happened about a week ago on Twitter. On our account we always post when bands have new songs or albums. I sent a tweet that Marmozets were working on an album. Literally nothing offensive by me. One of the band member replied “the album is already done!” and I didn’t think much of that response. I thought he was just letting me know. No harm done. So I asked him if the album was released yet so I can correct my tweet and he kept giving me attitude and I wish I still had the tweets so I could remember our convo but I blocked the entire band and deleted all my tweets cause I wanted nothing to do with them. I used to be a fan of that band. I have their older album. They’ve certainly lost my respect.
PUDDLE OF MUDD – This band has a bad reputation and for good reason. My personal experience is similar to everything you’ll see in the news about this band. They used to be my favorite when I was a kid until I grew up and realized how they give no fucks about their fans at all. They came to my city and I had bought tickets for the show. They were drunk the entire show and barely able to sing. He lip synced a lot of parts. Was barely able to stand up and was incredibly rude at some points in the concert. Not as bad as I’ve seen on Youtube but Wes seriously needs rehab. And I’m not saying that to be rude. I want him to get help but unfortunately you can’t get help if you don’t want help.
